ANDREA WRITES AGAIN... DEER WILDERNESS WOMAN! I AM DOING WELL STILL! THANKS! Eating like crazy (more emotional than hunger) but only craving good stuff... I can't stop eating cherry tomatoes, broccoli, and lemon! And nuts! Lots of cravings for nuts! Made some of my going-away meal we shared at Our Homestead: the exquisite spaghetti sauce for my zucchini noodles... 2 fresh toms, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, basil, and some of your amazing thick-sliced, sun-dried, organic tomatoes and, of course, some of your Tomato Bolt! seasoning... IT WAS SO GREAT! I eat this for snacks when I feel the urge for something heavier. I AM LOVING IT!! (only gained 1.5 pound since returning, and that was in the first 3 days before I even started eating regular and yummy meals... water-weight after a fast, I figure). Glad The Guesthouse is full now. Tell the ladies to order a whack of seasonings before they leave! They will regret it if they don't! I am enjoying my 6-Flavor Sampler so much! Sleep is good... exercise is good... energy levels are good... thanks again!! BEAR HUGS!!! Your Canadian Deer Cousin from over the Salt Water!

ANDREA WRITES 1 MORE TIME... Hello, again, livefoodfactorfriends! Since coming home from the 12-day visit at The BidWell Wilderness Woman's, I am realizing more every day  what a blessing it was to actually do the 10-day fast at her place. IT HAS CHANGED MY ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD. It is important to do this right. THE RE-FEEDING IS ALMOST AS IMPORTANT -- IF NOT MORE IMPORTANT AS THE FAST ITSELF. Just think about what your body is doing for you! By not eating and resting only, you are shutting down the entire digestive system in order to give it a complete rest. You are allowing the body to work through all the nooks and crannies of all 75,000,000,000,000 cells and cleanse out the toxins for you. And then, you are, to use computer terms, re-booting what needs to be re-booted when you start eating again -- with the end result that everything works more efficiently and correctly! What better time than spring to get a re-boot?

The best thing that you can do to show gratitude to your miraculous body, is to reintroduce food slowly and with reverence and mindfulness. Don't think that YOU know best. The body knows best. It does not want you to go back to unhealthy eating habits. Give it what it wants. Fresh fruit, veggies, and nuts and seeds. And take it very slowly as you introduce only good foods in proper amounts back into the body. I found that it took me about 8 days after my 10-day fast to start ingesting more varieties of foods. The best thing that you can do is prepare yourself ahead of time. Read whatever you can get your hands on. Talk to Victoria about everything that concerns you and listen to her. She knows her Natural Hygiene. Seriously. (All that "Wilderness Woman & The HighJoy Horse" talk is just so she can have a little fun along the way, because, believe me, some of her work is not exactly fun!) Just think, if you can make it to Our Hygiene Homestead in The Woods, you can enjoy her extensive library when you are there and become what she calls: "AN EDUCATED WOMAN!" (or "AN EDUCATED MAN!").

It has now been about 12 days since I got home. I took the first week real slow. I have returned to my demanding work as a massage therapist. Now I am back to exercising daily. Today I went for a 30-minute run. When I do sit down for a snack or a meal, I am experiencing a healthy craving just for the good stuff: a lot of veggies, nuts, and seeds. Not craving fruit as much as before. I do tend to graze throughout the day, and I probably could eat a bit less. But the good news is that I have not gained any weight since that 1 & 1/2 pounds my second day home! The body goes through a lot of work to rest and heal during a fast. The multi-gazillions of microsurgeons are on duty 24 hours a day in every cell in your body! It makes no sense to resume eating the way that got you tired and sick in the first place. Please, listen to The Wilderness Woman, appreciate and cherish and treasure your progress, and -- just pay attention.

It will be 30 days tomorrow since I finished the fast on water only and started eating. I have been eating to my heart's content, the best foods in the world! My weight has pretty much stayed the same. Sometimes it goes up a pound or two when I eat too many nuts. Then, I do as you instructed in the memo you wrote out for me:

You do not have to gain the legendary 3 - 5 - 10 pounds after a fast on water-only that you read about in all the Natural Hygiene literature! I can teach you how to keep from gaining even 1 pound! All guests stay much longer than the 2 days Andrea did to break their fasts. Many stay 1 week to break the fast properly on juices, melons, and juicy fruits and another week to get the FUN & FANCY RECIPES SPREADS! For all who want to continue losing weight after their fasts, I have these 3 guidelines.

#1 -- Keep hydrated throughout the fast so that you are not dehydrated when you break your fast and drink up 10 pounds of water in 1 or 2 days! The body needs extra water to start digesting food, again. So when you break your fast, even on juices and melons, your body will literally cry out for more water if you have kept yourself dehydrated during your fast and have drunk only "according to thirst." Most doctors at the Natural Hygiene health retreats still open tell you what Dr. Shelton preached: "DRINK ACCORDING TO YOUR THIRST!" The 3 Texas Doctors and I are well into writing a new manuscript that will become the book WHAT DR. SHELTON DIDN'T KNOW! And this is one of the things he did not know! The body needs a good half-gallon of water a day on a water-only Correct Natural Hygiene Fast to supply a fresh supply of water that is the transport system of the elimination of toxins, to be used in the fat-burning process, to be used in the autolysis of unhealthy tissues, and to keep from getting so dehydrated that you actually feel really bad while fasting but do not know why! And if you do keep hydrated with that 1/2 gallon of water a day, your body will not suck up 5 - 10 pounds of water once you start eating because you will have kept yourself well-hydrated during your fast! How nice not to see the scale go up the legendary 3 - 5 - 10 pounds once you start eating -- if those are pounds you do not want to gain! I had to figure this out myself.

So, that is the first thing you must do while undertaking The Correct Natural Hygiene Fast -- keep drinking whether you like the taste of the water or not, whether you feel you just cannot get the water down because you gag on it or not -- I have heard it all. Some guests refuse to take my advice and then complain of feeling lousy after a few days into their fasts. I tell them to "DRINK! DRINK! DRINK!" And some just will not. Take it or leave it! After several days of this and they still feel lousy, they decide to take my advice and force drink the 8 cups of water on down. And lo and behold! They feel better -- IMMEDIATELY! They sigh heavily -- they had just lost several days that could have been so pleasant to dehydration miseries!

#2 -- At Our Hygiene Homestead in The Woods, fasters break gently on juices and melons first, then on fruit meals, then on veggie meals with avocado and nuts added to their daily meals toward the end of the first week. ALL LIVE-FOODS, OF COURSE! It is a beautiful process that goes easily and deliciously and delightfully for most! I urge the break-fasters to lay low in bed the very first day or 2 or even 3, as if they were still fasting, depending on the length of their fasts. Then they can start strolling around the grounds. Finally, they can start taking long, leisurely walks along the back roads and the trails. If they will start getting good and active when their full energies return, they will naturally just burn up the calories of their live-food meals with mild to vigorous aerobic exercise. It's a beautiful thing -- this fearfully and wonderfully made body.

#3 -- But there is more. I know that many weight-loss experts tell followers to either forget about the scale or to get on it only once a week or even once a month. But for those who have just taken The Correct Natural Hygiene Fast and who want to keep on losing after their fasts and not start in gaining immediately, I strongly urge them to get on the scale every morning after their toiletries and -- buck naked, at that! This way, they know their true weights and do not have to wrestle with and wonder about the 3 - 5 pounds of clothing and shoes that vary according to the wardrobes chosen that day! If the scales have gone up, I urge them to fast on water-only or do low-cal juices until that weight-gain is back to what it was here at Our Hygiene Homestead in The Woods the day they left.  And then, I urge them to follow THE NATURAL WEIGHT-LOSS SYSTEM as spelled out so clearly in my 500-page course published by T.C. Fry back in the 1980s with the 26 newsletters with before and after pictures of "SUCCESS, AT LAST!" stories and with the 26 lessons with tons of recipes.

ANDREA CONCLUDES: If I go up on the scale, for 1 day, I limit my nut intake and I go back to the weight I was when I came home from the fast. I have been exercising, rebounding, and enjoying sunshine, lots of work at the markets, resting, and going to bed at 10 P.M. and waking between 5:45 and 7.:00 A.M.  I feel so well-rested! I have buckets of energy! And so far, allergy season has not adversely affected me at all! (I have been getting allergies since I moved here 15 years ago.) I hear it's a very bad year for people, allergy-wise. We shall see if it passes me by this summer or not...

ALL AND ALL... 30 DAYS AT HOME, I CAN ONLY SAY THAT "FASTING IS THE WAY TO GO!" (And eating a raw fruit and vegetable diet afterwards... of course!) Always doing good since leaving your care, Mz. Bidwell. Friends coming over for my 54th on Monday, and I am making a 4 course raw dinner. YES! GREAT BENEFITS FOR SUCH A SHORT FAST! WHO WOULDA THUNK IT? COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE! I think the fact that I am eating so well helps me gather all these other benefits, too. I would imagine that my body is constantly shifting and healing while eating this way. So far, no desire for any other SAD foodstuffs. Onward and upward... Glad to hear that you are so busy still and that The Guesthouse is kept full! Don't you have that guy coming soon to hibernate ior a 40-day fast in the bear cave soon? Thanks again, V!
