Our Icy Live-Food Granita Formula: Cool Off with Cold Crystals!

JULY 26th
Happy, Hot 2011 Summer!
Greetings, livefoodfactorfriends!

High and I hope you are having a wonderful summer! The Weather Channel shows that many of you in The States are  caught up in a sweltering heat wave drama! But up here in the Pacific Northwest, it has been the coolest, most refreshing summer I can ever remember! The mornings start out with a little mist or the lightest of drizzle, then the bright sun comes out for awhile with temperatures seldom reaching 80, then some clouds bring shade, then a little shower burst is followed by more rays, then the sun sets bringing cool evening air. I have not had to water any of my bucketed plants or barrelled trees or even fill High's 100 gallon rain catcher whereby the fresh water drops from the sky fall onto the tin roof and tumble into his drinking dish! The spring rains and now these misting summer droplets have left the Cascade Mountains here in the Concrete area dressed in many layers and shades of COOL GREEN... USER-FRIENDLY GREEN... and MERCIFUL-MARVELOUS-COOL GREEN!

So many elk and deer in groups of 5 to herds of 20 and more cross the 5 mile backroad stretch between the guesthouse at Our Hygiene Homestead in The Woods and where the horse and I live at The HighJoy Homestead. I have decided not to drive over 30 M.P.H. at night! These stunningly lovely, wild creatures appear suddenly and in such numbers that to drive any faster is to invite danger to us all! The woods teem with other critters, too, less large but still spectacular!

WE HAVE BEEN PRETTY MUCH FULL HERE DURING SPRING & SUMMER.
BUT OPENINGS AT THE GUESTHOUSE START ON AUGUST 8TH!

 WE WISH YOU WERE HERE!

High & I have been soooooo busy for the last 2 months with guests at the guesthouse & all the other projects here at GetWell*StayWell, America! I just have not written. But you were always on my mind! Let us make up for lost time! We hope you are well & having very cool, live-food fun!
Let us add to your fun with this icy formula -- DONE UP RIGHT!

THE GRANITA is not a blended sorbet with uniform crystals set in a dish.
***
THE GRANITA is not an juicer-made ice cream like from Dari-Delight.
***
THE GRANITA is not a cold drink with plain, old ice cubes.

YES... IT IS A COOL, MARVELOUS SUMMER... DID GET HOT YESTERDAY, THOUGH = IN THE 80S. I SEIZED THE DAY AND GAVE HIGH A 2-HOUR LONG SHOWER AND SUDDED HIM UP WITH A WHOLE BOTTLE OF STRAWBERRY SHAMPOO AND SCRUBBED OUT LAYERS OF 2010-2011 DIRT! IT IS NOT HIS FAVORITE THING TO RECEIVE. BUT OH! HOW GLORIOUS IN THE BRIGHT SUN IS THIS WHITE CREATURE WHEN THE  BUBBLES ARE ALL OVER! CAN YOU IMAGINE? EVEN 6 FEET AWAY, HE SMELLS LIKE HE HAD BEEN RAIDING A SUMMER STRAWBERRY PATCH!
