Did you know that melons,
when set in the same room with other fruits & veggies,
will be about 10º cooler inside?
Same with cucumbers -- which is where we get:
"COOL AS A CUCUMBER!"

NOTE: YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE YOUR SMOOTHY THE WAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE -- WITH NO FROZEN INGREDIENTS.
BUT
THESE BASIC KOOL-SMOOTHY FORMULA SAMPLE RECIPES USE
FROZEN WHOLE FRUITS!
ENJOY!
NOTE: I always keep fresh oranges on hand and most always have fresh-made orange juice (OJ) in the frig, too. It is an inexpensive "starter liquid" to add to my BASIC KOOL-SMOOTHY FORMULAS. But really, any yummy fruit juice would do in these KOOL-SMOOTHY SAMPLES! Even just water would devalue the flavor only slightly. So, here they are. You decide on the amounts to use, according to what you have on hand and your palates' dictates!
ANOTHER NOTE: All the fruits in the following recipes are frozen; but the juices, mild herbs, carob powder, and nuts or seeds are not.
MY FINAL NOTE: You and any children or children-at-heart can have fun making up names for these KOOL-SMOOTHY drinks! Pictures and/or your names welcome! We love to hear from ya'll!
 
STRAWBERRIES + PEACHES  + OJ

BLUEBERRIES  + APPLE JUICE  VITA-MIXED + CHOPPED WALNUTS STIRRED IN AFTER VITA-MIXING

RASPBERRIES + BANANAS  + OJ

BLUEBERRIES  + NECTARINES + GRAPEFRUIT JUICE

MANGO  + OJ

MANGO + OJ VITA-MIXED + WHOLE CASHEWS STIRRED IN
AFTER VITA-MIXING

MANGO + STRAWBERRIES + OJ

PEACHES + OJ + CLOVES, CINNAMON & A FEW CRUSHED MINT LEAVES

PLUMS + PINEAPPLE JUICE + LIME JUICE + WHOLE ALMONDS STIRRED IN
AFTER VITA-MIXING

PINEAPPLE + COCONUT MILK + LIME JUICE + A FEW CRUSHED PEPPERMINT LEAVES

APRICOTS + PINEAPPLE + ORANGE JUICE + LIME JUICE + GINGER JUICE

BANANAS + CAROB POWDER + COCONUT MILK + RASPBERRIES

BLACKBERRIES + MILD APPLE JUICE + A FEW CRUSHED MINT LEAVES

THE CLASSIC BANANA KOOL-SMOOTHY
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 3 - 5 pitted dates
  • small amount of starter liquid = coconut milk or nut milk or water or a juice
  • Use a little more liquid for a thinner KOOL-SMOOTHY, of course, or a little more frozen banana for a thicker KOOL-SMOOTHY. Then VITA-MIX the 3 ingredients into the KOOL-SMOOTHY consistency and thickness of your palate's desire.
     
    A FEW OF THE ENDLESS VARIATIONS OF
    THE CLASSIC BANANA KOOL-SMOOTHY
     
    SPICY-BANANA KOOL- SMOOTHY
    To the CLASSIC BANANA KOOL-SMOOTHY, add pinches of ground cinnamon, clove &/or ginger to suit your taste. VITA-MIX in just a pinch of each so you do not overdo these mild spices. Then taste-test. Add more, if wanted. VITA-MIX all the ingredients together & ENJOY!
     
    SPICY-CAROB-BANANA KOOL-SMOOTHY
    To the SPICY-BANANA KOOL-SMOOTHY, add enough carob to suit you.
     
    FOR A CHEWY VARIATION?
    Cut up a dried banana into many small, neat rounds & stir them into the KOOL-SMOOTHY. Serve with a spoon!
     
    FOR A CRUNCHY VARIATION?
    A "crunchy smoothy" -- now, there's an oxymoron for you! Stir pecan bits (or your favorite nut or seed or combination) into your KOOL-SMOOTHY. Serve pronto!The crunch in the nuts won't wait around for you! Serve with a spoon!
     
    FOR A CHEWY-CRUNCHY VARIATION OF THE ABOVE? Add the dried banana rounds and the nuts or seeds -- both! Stir the chewy fruit bits & crunchies in well. Serve immediately with a spoon!

    Frozen Fruit

    DIRECTIONS: 
    VITA-MIX
    until smooth!
     
    SMOOTHY NOTES on the frozen fruits you choose -- they can be any of these:
  • some banana ice cream
  • a fruit sorbet
  • a fruit slushy
  • whole frozen fruit or chunks
  • frozen fruit juice ice cubes
    If the fruit is frozen-cold, it will work to make a smoothy!

  • SMOOTHY NOTES on the type  &  amounts of liquid you choose:
  • You must have a little liquid as a starter for the VITA-MIX to do its smoothy-making job.
  • Any tasty liquid will add to the flavor. But if you use water, it will dilute the yummy flavors slightly. I never use water! Do as you please!
  • You want a thin smoothy? Use more liquid &/or less whole foods, of course!
  • You want a thick smoothy? Use more whole foods &/or less liquid, of course!
  • Vary the amounts for varied flavor appeal! By varying the amounts, you have completely different recipes, even though the ingredients are the same!

  • SMOOTHY NOTES on how to make a sweeter beverage --
    you can choose from these various ways to sweeten up an otherwise dull smoothy:
  • You can add dried fruit to both sweeten and flavor your smoothy.
  • Dates are the best sweetener if you do not want the dried fruit taste to interrupt the flavors of your masterfully planned smoothy. Dates have an uncanny talent to mimic refined sugar = adds sweetness without adding a whole, other flavor!
  • You can keep raw date sugar on hand & use it like we used to use the refined sugar bowl.
  • Your added liquid can be the sweetest fruit juice you have on hand. For me? It is always grape juice as my first sweet choice.
  • There are other products you can use. Some like raw agave nectar, which I avoid because of the price. Some like honey, which I avoid because of The Natural Hygiene.
